August 12th, 1918 - June 3rd, 2014
Martha Alice Overby Miss Overby, 95, of Charlotte, NC walked through heaven's gate at White Oak Manor on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. She was born August 12, 1918 in Brickhaven, NC, a daughter of the late Joseph Henry Overby, Sr., and Willie Pearl Beattie Overby. Martha's family moved to Charlotte in 1928. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Samuel Overby and Joseph Overby; sisters, Mary Overby and Billy Futral. Martha cherished her many family members, Judy Kyaw and husband David of Wilmington, DE, Sally Frieboes and husband Dennis of Dunnelton, FL Carol Turner of Tucker, GA., Larry Futral of Charlotte and all great nieces and nephews throughout the states; and her special friend Evelyn Humble of Charlotte. Her hobbies included reading and working crossword puzzles. She retired after 40 years at Parks -Cramer in Charlotte. She was a longtime member of Plaza Presbyterian Church. She will be deeply missed by the many friends that she cared about. Many thanks go out to the staff of White Oak Manor for the great care that was given. A memorial service will be at the graveside on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Sharon Memorial Park with Chaplain Beth Brittain officiating.
