Martha Agnes Passey passed away on December 19, 2015 in Antioch, California. She was born to Jack Albert Hollis and Bertha Bailey Hollis of Honey Grove, Texas on June 18, 1922, the second of four children. Martha grew up and was schooled in Honey Grove, Texas. After high school graduation, she met her former husband, while he was on leave from the Marines, and married a short time later. They divorced in 1961. She had five children by that marriage: Mary Ann, John Floyd, Linda Lois, Nina Annette and Al Stephen. She later met and married her current husband, Wilford "Frank" Passey, on February 8, 1966 and later had the marriage solemnized in the Oakland Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They remain married for time and all eternity. Martha and Frank Passey lived in Alameda, California as they raised their children and then returned to live in Arlington, Texas until her retirement from the U.S. Navy Exchange. After retirement they made their lives in Antioch, California and spent their religious life at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Brentwood, California before moving into the Cypress Meadows Assisted Living in Antioch, where she remained until her death. Martha was active and served in many callings in the church, sharing her talents of making peanut butter cups and sewing with the young womens group. She also sewed for her grand children, often making beautiful dresses, a wedding gown, aprons for her caregivers at Cypress Meadows and others. She even created fashion for "Boo," Johns dog. Martha is survived by five children: Mary Ann Slaby of Washington, D.C., John Finnell of Dayton, Nevada, Linda Lois Hilken of Alameda, California, Nina Annette Finnell Hernandez of Antioch, California and Al Finnell of Matthews, North Carolina; Three step children: Steven Frank Passey, Darla Joyce Stanger, and Janet Kay Passey; 6 grandchildren : Brenda Ellis, Cindy Finnell, Lisa Shoffner, Rachael Finnell, Stephen Finnell, and Kimberly Finnell; and three great grandchildren Deirdre Ellis, Oren Ellis and Sebastian Rojas Finnell. Martha's marriage to Frank brought them an additional thirteen grandchildren and thirty nine great grandchildren. Visitation 10 am to 10:50 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daySaints, Antioch Stake Center Chapel, 2350 Jeffrey Way, Brentwood; funeral services to follow at 11:00 am in the chapel. Interment to follow at Oak View Memorial Park, Antioch, CA. Memorial gifts may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, care of Bishop Aaron Brown.
