Martin Phillip “Tazz” Hernandez shockingly passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Presbyterian Hospital at the young age of 42. Martin was born January 27, 1979 in Albuquerque, NM and was raised in the neighborhood of Martinez Town to the late Thomas Lopez Hernandez and is survived by Mary Helen Hernandez. He was the middle child of three sons, his older brother Thomas Ricardo Vicente “Joker” Hernandez and his younger brother who proceeded him in death, Gabriel Anthony “Toro” Hernandez. He is cherished and loved and will forever be deeply missed in the lives of his children and soon to be grandchild; Martin Hernandez Jr., Mariah Hernandez, and Jazmyn Griego. Martin was and is a beloved grandson, son, father, brother, uncle, and special nephew to many aunties and uncles. He has many cousins, and tons of “true” friends and family (that were not by blood) that love him dearly. Martin touched the heart of all who know him, as he definitely was a joy to be around. He feared the WORD OF GOD and read and studied the bible daily. He was a “No questions asked” lend a helping hand, give his last penny kind of guy no matter what the reason was. Martin was truly a very loyal and humble man and sacrificed much, with no second thought, for his children and mother. He found happiness in watching movies with his mom and children, and watching sports whether it was his son Martin on the football field or his daughters Mariah and Jazmyn on the softball field or his NFL team the 49ers, this brought him peace and joy. Martin also loved music and was never too shy to dance and he always drew a crowd. One thing can be said is Martin was a gentle giant but a force to be reckoned with, he will forever leave a huge void for those who loved him… We will be celebrating Martin’s life with a Rosary on Wednesday, September 1st at 5:30 PM @Riverside Funeral Home 225 San Mateo Blvd NE 87108. Mass on Thursday, September 2nd at 11 AM @ St. Anne’s Catholic Church 1400 Arenal Rd SW 87105 burial will follow at Mr. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers; Martin A. Hernandez Jr., Gavino R. Hernandez, Gavino R. Hernandez II, Thomas R Hernandez, Rudy Griego Sr., Rudy Griego Jr., Roland Gurule, Dominic Hernandez. Honorary Pallbearers; Nick Hernandez and Vicente Candelaria. If you would like to send flowers, they can be sent to Riverside Funeral home.
