February 20th, 1955 - July 10th, 2011
Martin Patrick Kirk, 56, of Molalla died in a car accident on July 10, 2011 in Canby. A celebration of his life was held on July 16, 2011 at Molalla Christian Church in Molalla. Martin was born in North Bend, Oregon to Forrest and Mary Kirk on February 20, 1955, the youngest of five boys. He lived in Coos Bay, Oregon and Tenant, Califonia in his early years. Later his family moved to Estacada, Oregon where he graduated from high school. He lived in the Molalla area for 31 years. He married Esther Vaughn on March 19, 1976. He loved fishing, hiking, camping, working on anything mechanical and working in the family apple orchard. He spent countless hours helping his family and friends with home projects. He had the amazing gift of being able to problem-solve any technical or personal difficulty. He was a hard worker and a man of uncompromised integrity. Martin worked for 14 years for Publisher's Paper as a millwright and machinist at the sawmill in Liberal, Oregon and then worked 25 years at Stanley Hydraulic Tools as a machinist and mechanical designer. He was a scoutmaster for several years and a longtime member and elder at Molalla Christian Church. He also was the church treasurer. He is survived by his wife, Esther; sons, Amos, Caleb and Jesse Kirk; daughters, Ruth and Sarah Kirk; daughter-in-laws, Joy and Emily Kirk; grandchildren, Destiny and Leelin Kirk; and brothers, Richard, Leonard and Brian Kirk.
