Martina C. Martinez
January 30th, 1937 - August 24th, 2024
Martina “Marti” C. Martinez, 87, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, went to be with her Lord on August 24, 2024. She was born on January 30, 1937, to the union of Carmen and Pete Cruz in Waco, Texas.
Martina graduated from her high school in Waco in 1956. She then went onto earn a bachelor’s degree in Nebraska. Marti was a hard-working and brilliant woman. She worked in the Colorado forestry department in land management for over 20 years where she accomplished many different things. One of which was helping her colleagues earn equal pay. Marti also proudly served as a hiking guide for Pikes Peak, which she climbed countless times. She was not only a hard worker but had a keen sense of humor and quick wit. In her free time, she enjoyed gambling at Cripple Creek and participating in family activities. Marti loved spending her time with her husband and making everyone around her smile.
She is proceeded in death by her daughter, Carmen and son Joseph Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories with her husband Joseph of 68 years, her son Mark A. Martinez, and many others who loved her.
Services will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Saint Mary’s Cathedral at 22 West Kiowa Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The viewing will be held from 8:30am to 9:00am. Rosary will begin at 9:00am, Mass will follow starting at 9:30am. The graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery at 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903, immediately following the services.
