Memorial

Marvin Ley, 81, of Greeley, CO passed away August 24, 2011 at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO. He was born on November 25, 1929 in Ashley, ND to Gottlieb and Rose (Christiansen) Ley. Marvin started Valley View School in Kersey, CO speaking only German. He worked with his family in the sugar beet fields to make a living. He was a hard worker. Marvin married the love of his life, Mona Bailey, in 1952 and was blessed with three daughters: Barbara, Sandra, and Sue. They lived 59 years of their life together in the Greeley and LaSalle, CO areas. He owned and operated Marvin Ley Trucking for 49 years and logged nearly a million miles over the road. He was a jack of all trades. He loved to garden, he farmed, he fed cattle, and he could fix anything that was broken. He even remodeled several homes. After retirement in 1994, he and Mona moved to Greeley. They enjoyed camping, traveling across the country and vacationing in their second home in Mission, TX. He loved to Dutch Hop, play cards and gamble. But, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his two faithful four-legged companions, Joey and Yogi. The memories we have of him will be treasured. He will be dearly missed. Marvin is survived by his daughters, Sandy (Rick) Rexford and Sue (Bob) Kitchell both of Greeley; a son-in-law, Randy (Cindy) Reeve of LaSalle; five grandchildren, Amanda (Jared) Owens of LaSalle, Kristi (Thomas) Louden of Ana Cortes, WA, Brian (Sarah) Rexford of Aurora, Bret Kitchell and Jennah Kitchell both of Denver, CO; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer (Mary) Ley of Joplin, MO, Bob (Betty) Ley of Greeley; sister, Naomi Morgan of Pueblo; many nieces and nephews; numerous friends; and two loving dogs Joey and Yogi. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, wife, daughter, Barb Reeve; brothers, Matt, Herb, and Harold Ley. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 at Bethel Baptist Church, 2307 17th Avenue, Greeley. Memorial contributions can be made to "Weld County Humane Society” in care of Adamson Funeral and Cremation Services, 2000 47th Ave. Greeley, CO 80634.
