Marvin Ray Pennington
December 26th, 1947 - June 13th, 2014
Marvin Ray Pennington of Middleton passed away at his home Friday, June 13 following a long battle with Leukemia. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Marvin was born in Ontario, Oregon on December 26, 1947. He grew up in Middleton just a mile away from his future wife Patricia Josephson. The Pennington and Josephson families were friends and use to go camping together in McCall. Starting at an early age, Marvin worked in the family business with alongside his father. Marvin continued the family tradition with Pennington Concrete Ditches, pouring hundreds of concrete irrigation ditches for farmers across western Idaho and eastern Oregon. Marvin was a very hard worker and loved to play just as hard. He loved anything with an engine and always wanted the biggest, the fastest, and the best. The season didn’t matter as Marvin was never slowed down. Whether it was fresh powder in Cascade on his snowmobile, or spring mud on his Razor, Marvin could be outside having fun. He distinctly remembered drag racing his Jeep and El Camino in his twenties and finding a love for racing while helping his brother Roland with Jalopy Racing. The Burger Den with his buddies is about all that got him to sit still. When the time came to get out and enjoy his hobbies, he never hesitated to share these joys with family and friends. Marvin loved were spending time with his grandchildren and he also had a huge heart for animals. He and Patricia could have easily had dog sled team for all the dogs they had in the family. If there is a question in mind to this fact, please come visit their pet cemetery that required more use from his tractor than his fields. Marvin is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia, children; sons Drew Pennington and Kyle Pennington, daughter Heather (Pennington) Dixon; grandchildren; Alex & Halle Pennington, Bryson Toles, Alea and Peyton Dixon, Harley & Ambree Pennington; siblings Roland Pennington, Larry Pennington, Cheryl Peterson, Linda Stephens, and twin sister Marilyn Hindman. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Marjorie Pennington and children, Bryan and Amber Pennington. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Middleton Cemetery. Following the service, Marvin’s wife Patricia is inviting everyone to a Celebration of Life in Marvin’s shop. The family asks that memorial contributions be made The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
