I just found out that ML lost her battle with cancer. I've known her since our college days in Laramie Wyo. We enjoyed a regular habit of long rambling telephone conversations. She showed a great ability for maintaining dignity and humor in the face of the chronic difficulties life threw at her.One of the best things I ever did - the most unselfish - was to make sure she got to a community where she could be accepted and supported. I made sure she got to Boulder. When I read the proclamation by the Boulder City Council making the "Mary Louise Chavers Day , Tuesday December 15th" it helped me in my sadness for her passing. I thank God - or whatever version of Divinity you prefer - that I got her out of Wyoming.I tended to describe her affectionately as 'my crazy hippie friend'. She certainly helped me remember the unseen connections between all things.Goodbye, Mary-Louise.
