Mary C. Dorsey, 82, of County Highway 126, Town of Perth, NY passed away Thursday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Patterson, NJ on November 11, 1922 a daughter of William and Jennie Twyford Campbell. She was raised in Patterson, New Jersey and was a high school graduate. She moved to Oakland, New Jersey after her marriage and then moved to Perth in 1983. She was a Petty Officer 1st Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II serving in New York City, Washington and Oklahoma. Mrs. Dorsey was a member of the Oakland, NJ American Legion Post #369 and was the first female Officer and past Post Commander. She was employed for many years at the Wycoff Savings & Loan in the Saddle River, New Jersey office as a Branch Manager. She married Harold G. Dorsey, he passed away in 1993. Survivors include three daughters, Wendy Merk of Perth, NY, Janice Latus of Rotterdam Jct., NY and Sharon Lincoln of Lakewood, Colorado; five grandchildren, Kevin Merk, Christopher Merk, Jason Latus, Travis Lincoln and Kayley Lincoln; one great grandchild, Dylan Merk and nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 18, 2005 at 2:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday beginning at 1:00PM at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the MDA Albany Chapter P.O. Box 5877, Albany NY 12205 or to the MDA-Albany Chapter 1 Marcus Blvd. Albany, NY 12205.
