Mary "Bronkey" Douglas passed away March 23, 2012, in Commerce City, Colorado. Mary was the daughter of Wilbur "Bull" Clark and Maxine Hooper. She was born in Steamboat Springs, Colorado on April 22, 1941. She grew up on the family ranch in Dixon, Wyoming and attended school in Baggs, Wyoming. Mary had her son Dale in 1958 and due to her young age her Mother Maxine adopted him. Mary married Jerry Smith in 1959. Jerry passed away June 1962 leaving behind two children, Janet Lee and Leonard Wayne. In November 1965 Mary married John Black and moved to Craig, Colorado and had a son Neil Loyis. John passed away in 1977. She married Don Douglas in January 1979, they had no children. Don passed away in 1992. In 1996 Mary moved to Grand Junction, Colorado and then later to Commerce City, Colorado in 2007. When Mary was four years old she rode her horse from the Fortification ranch to Craig to entertain the crowds with her riding where she was dubbed "Rodeo Moppet" on her horse Walker. Mary was an excellent horsewoman, and loved breading and riding horses, which lead to her nickname "Bronkey." Her favorite horse was a pinto named Snowdy that she purchased from Don Wickham in 1949. Mary showed the 4-H Reserve Grand Champion steer in 1954. In 1955 she showed the 4-H Grand Champion heifer at the Moffat County Fair. Mary will be remembered for her love of arrowhead hunting and old bottle collecting and especially the love she had for her granddaughters. Mary is preceeded in death by her three husbands, Jerry Smith, John Black and Don Douglas, her parents, Wilbur "Bull" Clark and Maxine Hooper, Son Leonard Smith, and grandson Stephen Eugene Derrico. She is survived by her son Neil Black of Grand Junction, CO; Daughter, Janet (Monty) Derrico of Rawlins, Wyoming; Dale Clark of Craig Colorado; brothers, John (Esther) Clark of Baggs, Wyoming and Bill (Virginia) Clark of Delroy, Ohio; Granddaughters, Antenniell (Joel) Neumiller of Washburn, North Dakota; Kylah Derrico of Rawlins, Wyoming; Cassandra Clark of Craig, Colorado; Shawni Clark and granddaughter Taelyn Clark of Craig Colorado and five nieces and three nephews. Cremation was the mode of disposition and a memorial service will be scheduled for this summer. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Carbon County 4-H Scholarship fund, P.O. box 280 Rawlins, WY 82301.
