On Monday, January 3, 2022, Mary Gonzales, beloved mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, passed away at age 79. Mary was born on September 11, 1942 in Dallas,TX to Leon and Celia Mendoza. Mary grew up in Dallas and graduated from Crozier Tech High School. Soon after graduation, Mary married Arthur Garcia and moved to Roswell, New Mexico, then to Albuquerque, New Mexico to raise her family. Mary went on to raise 5 children, while also working as a cashier at Globe Supermarket, then Smith’s grocery stores. Mary was loved by everyone she encountered-her family, her neighbors, friends and co-workers. Mary loved to sew and crochet, loved to travel, loved the Dallas Cowboys, but loved her family most of all. Mary’s second husband, Patrick Gonzales, was the love of her life, and she was fortunate enough to spend nearly 30 years with him, traveling as far away as Australia, and accompanying him as he competed on bowling leagues. Mary and Pat also loved attending Albuquerque Isotopes baseball games. Mary’s spirit and love of life was truly inspiring and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Leon and Celia Mendoza of Dallas Texas, and her loving husband, Patrick Gonzales. Mary is survived by her sisters Sally Mendoza and husband John, of Dallas TX, Margaret Prado of Garland, TX, brothers Paul Mendoza and wife Cecelia of Dallas, TX, and brother Phillip Mendoza of Dallas, TX. Mary is also survived by her 5 children, Katherine Love of Rio Rancho, NM, Arthur Garcia and wife Cora of Norfolk, VA, Aurora Brusseau and husband Charles of Tijeras, NM, Christine Felts of Albuquerque,NM and Gabriel Leon Garcia and wife Esperanza of Albuquerque, NM. Mary also leaves behind her beloved 4 nieces and 2 nephews, 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 2:00pm, at the Riverside Funeral Home located at 225 San Mateo NE in Albuquerque. Burial services to be held in Dallas, TX and Tuskahoma, OK in March, 2022
