Mary Helen Gurule

Mary Helen Gurule, age 70, a lifelong resident of Placitas, NM, born August 3, 1943, passed into the arms of our Lord on Friday, January 24, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Filomena Gurule and son, Wilfred Gurule. Mary is survived by her children, Oscar Gurule and wife, Betty Joe, Matthew Gurule and fiancé, Alison, Robert Gurule and wife, Jenny, and JoAnn Gurule; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was a member of Las Placitas Presbyterian Church, an active member of the San Felipe Farmers Association and a volunteer at the Casa Rosa Food Pantry in Placitas, NM. It has been said that Mary's red chili was the best ever made and she was very proud of that. Mary touched so may lives' and everyone knew her because of her little white hat that she never let anyone touch. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 9:00 AM at Las Placitas Presbyterian Church, located at 7 Paseo de San Antonio, with a Funeral Service to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Drew M. Henry, officiating. Interment will follow at the San Antonio Land Grand Cemetery in Placitas, NM. Pallbearers will be Tim Gurule, Harvey Vigil, Moises Perea, John Gurule, Gary Baldonado, and Jerry Rodriguez.
