Lexington, KY Mary Ann Hoenscheid, affectionately known to most as Nana passed away peacefully on October 19th. Mary Ann was born in Moline, Illinois on September 21, 1923. She grew up in the Midwest and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1945 with honors. There she served as President of her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta as well as being the Chair of the Panhellenic Committee. Mary Ann was a gifted athlete excelling in both golf and bowling. In 1949, she married the love of her life, J. A. (Tony) Hoenscheid. Mary Ann and Tony resided in Southern California and Illinois before finally settling in Lexington, Kentucky in 1978. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen E. and Rachel Mueller and her husband, Tony. She is survived by her siblings, Stephen Mueller and Dolores Roberts. She is also survived by her four loving children: Ann, Lisa Kelly (Michael), Robert (Sandra), James (Elizabeth) and her three grandchildren: Jordan, John and Caroline. Mary Ann always enjoyed a good game of bridge and later in life enjoyed many travel adventures along with her sister, Dolores. A woman of strong faith, Mary Ann was a founding member of Pax Christi Church. Nana epitomized the class and dignity of her generation mixed with a tinge of sass and a lot of laughter. She will be missed by many as her home and heart were always open to all. Funeral Information There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends from 5-8 PM, Monday, October 24, 2016 at Clark Legacy Center in Brannon Crossing. The Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 AM, Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Pax Christi in Lexington, Kentucky. The burial will follow the Mass at 11:30 AM at Calvery Cemetery in Lexington, KY.
