Mary Ann Hulquist
November 1st, 1932 - March 12th, 2012
Our beloved Mother, Mary Ann Hulquist, passed away with her family at her side on March 12, 2012. She was born in Portland to Leslie and Margaret Harradine on November 1, 1932. She spent her childhood in Metzger and her grandparents’ farm in Tualatin, graduating from Tigard High School in 1950. She worked for General Motors for 25 years. Family, community involvement, friends, and gardening filled her retirement days. Family was most important to our Mother. She made a home in Tigard and raised three children: Brad, Mark and Lisa. She instilled responsibility, a strong work ethic, the value of education and positive thinking in her children. She delighted in large family gatherings, sharing stories, creating laughter and fun. Her favorite motto was, “Let’s keep it simple” because the focus should be on the relationships, not the activity. Our Mother was loved by all who knew her. She had a bright optimistic attitude and always had a smile on her face. People embraced her warm heart. She was active in many organizations. She served as a local historian for Tualatin and Metzger. Last fall, she was honored to be appointed as the Grand Marshall of the Metzger Centennial parade but could not attend due to her Acute Luekemia. She is survived by her loving children, Brad (Joann) of Beaverton, Mark (Denise) of Tigard, and Lisa Mayer (Scott) of Lake Oswego; seven grandchildren, and one sister Lucille Sinfield (Skipp) of San Clemente, California. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Tigard on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 4:00. In lieu of flowers, Please consider a donation in memory of Mary Ann Hulquist to the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, OHS Foundation Mail Stop 45, PO Box 4000, Portland Oregon 97208 Arrangements by Autumn Funerals, Cremation & Burial, Tigard, Oregon.
