Mary Ann Knowlton, 48, of Lost Valley Rd., Amsterdam, passed away Sunday morning October 23, 2005, at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Syracuse, NY on October 13, 1957, she was the daughter of Walter and Dorothy Calkins Rivers. She was a lifelong Schenectady and Amsterdam area resident and was a graduate of Schalmont High School. She was of the Christian Faith. She worked for a time at the former Windsor Restaurant in Amsterdam as a Prep Cook. She married Harold James Knowlton on January 18, 1986. In addition to her husband, survivor?s include- Two Sons- Duane Pechtel of Schenectady, NY & Eric Pechtel of Schenectady, NY One Daughter-Amanda Knowlton her companion Walter Whipple of Amsterdam. Two Brothers- Ronald ?Ronnie? Orotowski of Schenectady and Steven Rivers of Florida. One Sister- Donna Young Eight Grandchildren, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY 12010.
