Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Caldwell
Mary Louise Koeppen
August 14th, 1928 - March 29th, 2016
Mary Koeppen was born in Eden, Idaho on August 14, 1928 to Bessie and Louis Couch. She grew up in the Milner area and moved to Shoshone where she completed high school. There she married Kenneth Koeppen in 1947. They were blessed with two children Lillian and Kent. They lived for six years in Danner, Illinois and returned to Idaho in 1955. They lived in the Melba area until 1961 when they farmed the Smeed Farm. The family enjoyed many hours of water skiing on Lake Lowell. Mary worked for Lakeys and was a deputy treasurer for Canyon County. Mary & Kenneth purchased the Couch family farm in 1973 in Shoshone. Mary worked with Kenneth as his “right hand-hand.” Mary enjoyed helping to raise her five grandchildren: Kim, Jody, Kurtis, Andrew and Nate. Mary attended rodeos, sports events, and loved watching her grandkids compete in these events. Kenneth and Mary followed the Shoshone sports teams to the state tournaments. She also loved to travel with Kenneth and later went to Alaska, Hawaii, and New England, and across the country with Mike and Lillian. Mary is preceded in death by Kenneth, her parents, brothers Bob and Carl. She is survived by her brother Ray Couch, children Lillian (Mike) Pierce of Nampa and Kent Koeppen of Challis, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren – with two more coming this spring. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 11:30 AM at Shoshone Cemetery, in Shoshone, Idaho. Memorials can be sent to the Shoshone Scholarship fund or Shoshone Senior Center.
