Mary W. Lafoe
October 1st, 1930 - November 6th, 2010
Mary W. Lafoe, 80, of Tribes Hill, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Edward L. Wilkinson RHCF in Amsterdam. She was born October 1, 1930 in Hope Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Portia Brownell Williams. Mary graduated from Plattsburgh State University. She was a teacher for the former Perth Central School District for thirty four years, retiring in 1988. She was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed playing cards- especially pinochle. Most of all, Mary loved to be with her grandchildren whom she absolutely adored. She will be very sadly missed. Survivors include a daughter, Kathaleen Hoffman Keith of Troy; a son, Joseph W. Lafoe Kelly of Tribes Hill; three grandchildren: Kelly Conn Gary, Casey Lafoe and Bryan Lafoe; two very close friends: Ginny Stahl and Sue Wemple and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was predeceased by three brothers: Charles Williams, Seymour Williams and John Williams and a sister, Barbara Williams. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 9th at 11 a.m. at the Believer's Fellowship Church, 150 North Comrie Avenue, Johnstown. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street Gloversville, NY 12078. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's memory to The Mary W. Lafoe Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
