Mary Angela Mainwaring
February 27th, 1929 - March 2nd, 2020
Mary Angela “Midge” Farrell Mainwaring, age 91 entered into eternal rest, on March 2, 2020 in Wesley Chapel, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents Victor Joseph and June Leonard Farrell, and all eight siblings, her four brothers Bud, Brian, Bruce, David and her four sisters Nancy, Maureen, Gerry, and Joanne. Mary was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy, an all-female Catholic High School in Cleveland, Ohio. She worked as a service representative for AT&T before marrying Thomas Mainwaring in 1954. She raised her four sons and one daughter as the family moved from Cleveland to Grand Rapids, Michigan, to River Vale, New Jersey, finally settling in Jacksonville, Florida. She enrolled in college in the early 80’s. In 1985 Mary received a BA in Literature/Communications graduating cum laude from the University of North Florida. She volunteered and eventually worked in the office at San Jose Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida where the family worshipped for over 40 years. She enjoyed working for Pearson, an assessment company, as a test evaluator before retiring. Mary was an avid reader, a talented seamstress, who loved golf and had a great swing. She walked daily before it was the health trend it is today. Her joys included spending time with her five children and twelve grandchildren, raising her Shetland Sheepdogs Dundee and Dundeen, and gardening, in particular, planting beautiful hydrangeas in her front yard for all to enjoy. The family spent many happy vacations at her beach house in Vilano Beach, Florida. Mary loved to cook and loved preparing the Thanksgiving meal for all who could come. Most of all, Mary was a very loving and supportive mother and beautiful and caring grandmother. She is survived by her sons Kevin Mainwaring, James Mainwaring and his life partner Irene Picca, Scott Mainwaring and his wife Lory, Bruce Mainwaring and his wife Aimee, and by her daughter Eileen Odom and her husband Burton, and by her twelve grandchildren Sean, Meghan, Ryan, Caitlin, Nicole, Kyle, Jared, Amanda, Sarah, Lydia, Haley, and Sam and five great grandchildren Ella, Owen, Xander, Landon, and Rowan. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church on 2348 Collier Pkwy, Land O Lakes, Florida 34639. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to either UF Shands Cancer Center or Morning Star Catholic School in Tampa, Florida
