Kernersville-Mary T. Mitchell, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior June 3, 2011. Graveside Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be held 1:00PM Monday June 6, 2011 at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory with Dr. Steve Martin officiating. A native of Claxton, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Georgia Naomi Mobley and Benjamin Jackson Threatte, Sr. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Kernersville. Mary had worked at Kernersville High School cafeteria for a number of years. She was married to the late James L. Mitchell May 17, 1941. She also was preceded in death by her daughter Lynda Newton. Survivors include her daughter Mary Ann Motsinger and Steve of Wallburg; sons Bob Mitchell and Linda of Clemmons, Ben Mitchell of Kernersville, and Sam Mitchell and Geraldine of Kinston; sister Edna Houck of Palatka, FL; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family will visit with friends Monday one hour prior to the service at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Winston-Salem Senior Services and flowers are welcome.
