Mary Jane Nunan
January 19th, 1939 - April 28th, 2024
Mary Jane Nunan (Knapp), passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2024, after a brief illness. Mary Jane was born on January 19, 1939, in Haverstraw, New York. After Mary Jane graduated from Middletown High School, Middletown, NY, she worked briefly as a seamstress at a local business in New York. Once married with a family and settled in and remained a homemaker. She then met and married, John (Jack) S. Nunan on September 3, 1960, and then became a homemaker and mother. Mary Jane and Jack are Charter Members of the Seminole Elks Lodge #2519 and the Seminole Ladies of Elks #2519. Since the founding of the lodge, she enjoyed setting up playing bingo every Wednesday and when she was able serving Friday night dinners. Mary Jane was always taking trips to her favorite place, Shades of Green at Walt Disney World while Jack was playing golf she stayed at either the lobby or outside terrace enjoying her word search puzzles along with people watching. Trips were always for her birthday, anniversary and when possible New Years Eve. Even went just because she wanted to go. While Mary Jane was always demure, classy, and well-dressed her spicy attitude always shown through at the right times. Mary Jane was predeceased by her parents, Elinor (Knapp) and Harold Sutton and Ida and Clarence Knapp, her brothers, Clarence (Sonny) Knapp, Richard (Butch) Knapp, Robert Knapp and sisters, Beverly Townsend, Francis Knapp, and Barbara Moseley and great grandson, Brantley Nunan. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jack, daughters Mary Anita Mullan and Kathleen (Kate) Boccia and her husband Dan, and son, John (Butch) C. Nunan his wife Eileen, Mary Jane also is survived by her grandchildren, Jonathan Nunan his wife Alexis, Jeremy Nunan, Rebecca Mullan, Jeffrey Nunan and his wife Jamie, Heather Boccia, Emma (Nunan)Lanning and her husband Trent, Donald (DJ) Boccia and 7 great-grandchildren. Sisters Elinor Soons and Betty Jane Moretti. Services will be held at St Jerome Catholic Church, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Elks National Foundation.
