Mary Leeney Oslin
July 22nd, 1958 - January 10th, 2011
Mary Leeney Oslin, of Edmonds, Washington, 52, passed away on January 10, 2011. Mrs. Oslin was the daughter of Robert E. Leeney and the late Ann Stickley Leeney of Mystic, Connecticut. In addition to Robert and Judith Leeney, she is survived by her daughters Chloe and Ellie, and husband Eric, who reside in Edmonds, her sister Maggie Cotter and husband Dan, and her nieces Shannon, Dana and Rachael, of Frederick, Maryland. A bright and gifted person who always cared for others and strove to help her fellow man, she joined the Peace Corps after college, serving in Ecuador. She later moved to Washington State and Alaska where she devoted her energies to working with nonprofit organizations supporting Native Americans, frequently traveling to remote villages in the Aleutian Islands and northern Alaska. She later settled in Edmonds, becoming a senior executive and partner in the fields of Organizational Development and Human Resources. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters Chloe and Ellie, who became the center of her world. Loving thoughts of her daughters were always in her heart. She was a graduate of St. Bernards High School in Groton, and received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Connecticut and Masters Degree from the American University in Washington, DC. A memorial service will be held at St. Patricks Catholic Church, 32 East Main Street, Mystic, on Friday, January 21 at 10 AM. The burial will be performed at a later date. Announcement: Local family and friends will be meeting to remember Mary on Saturday, January 22nd at the Northwest Arts Center in Bellevue, Washington (9825 NE 24th St, Bellevue, WA 98004). Friends from all parts of Marys life are welcome to come and share their memories from 1pm to 3:30 pm that afternoon. Light refreshments will be served. The family requests that in-lieu-of flowers donations be sent to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309, an organization Mary strongly supported.
