Mary A. Popko
November 26th, 1917 - June 16th, 2015
"South Hadley-Mary A. (Mardeusz) Popko, 97, passed away June 16, 2015 at Mt. St. Vincent Care Center in Holyoke. Mary was born November 26, 1917, in Holyoke to the late Joseph and Anna (Sobon) Mardeusz. Her husband, the late Charles Popko, died in 1988. Mary was raised and educated in Holyoke. She moved to S.Hadley in 1956. Mary worked in various factories in the area. She was devoted to her family and especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Mary is survived by her daughter Judith and her husband Garry of S.Hadley along with her grandson Lee Pedigo and granddaughter Nancy Pedigo of S.Hadley. She also leaves her great grandchildren, Amanda Paquin and husband Dan, Joshua, Sarah, Bridget and Colin Pedigo as well as two great, great grandchildren Lily and Mia Paquin. Many nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law Rosalie Mardeusz of Holyoke also survive her. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son Richard Popko and grandson Mark Pedigo as well as her brothers, Stanley, Casimir, Daniel, Henry and Joseph. The family of Mary Popko would like to extend their sincere thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff of the Mt. St. Vincent Care Center for their excellent and compassionate care of Mary. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m at the Beers & Story S.Hadley Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Cross Church, 23 Sycamore St, Holyoke. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mt. St. Vincent Care Center, 35 Holy Family Rd., Holyoke, MA 01040.
