Mary "Anderson" A. Preston

Mary Preston was born November 11, 1927 as Mary T. Anderson in Gilliam, Louisiana to the union of Jewell and Louvenia Anderson. Mary passed away peacefully in her home on July 13, 2015 surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by Eddie, her husband of 61 years, her son Dwight, and three siblings. Mary is survived by her children: Leo (Peggy), Ron (Lafreeda), Stan (Linda), Carl (Karen), Leon (Anne), Michael, Marilyn, Sharon and many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. Four living siblings cherish her memory: Jewell Anderson (Dorothy) of Memphis TN, Marie Anderson-Cherry of Houston, TX, Rosie Anderson-Butler (Ralph) of Houston, TX and Leroy Anderson (Regina) of Shreveport, LA. Mary worked for many years in Civil Service positions at Fort Lewis and was a strong advocate for her Union brothers and sisters. She then enjoyed her work with children in Tacoma Public Schools. Funeral Services will be held 11 A.M. Monday, July 20, 2015 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1211 S "I" St, Tacoma, WA 98405, (253) 272-4949, where Mary and Eddie were long time members.
