Reid, Mary Francis Quillen Passed away January 14, 2011 after a long illness at Bon Secours Maria Manor in St. Petersburg, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Charles Martin and Florence Quillen. She graduated from Tennessee High School in 1939, attended Virginia Intermont College and went on to Longwood College where she graduated in 1943 with a major in Math. From there, she went to work with Grumman aircraft in Bathpage, NY. For the duration of WWII, she had a long career as a High School Math teacher. She started at North Miami High School from 1953-1960 and returned to Bristol in 1960. She was a teacher at Virginia Jr. High and High school until 1967. She then returned to Miami, FL where she taught at Miami Norland High school until her retirement in 1984. She was a life-long member of the Presbyterian church .She grew up as a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Bristol, VA. She became a member of the North Miami Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon, secretary, and treasurer. She later joined the Miami Shores Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her son Mike Reid; her good friend and daughter-in-law Joyce Reid of St. Petersburg, FL; her beloved sister Betty Revies Finney of Chattanooga, TN; and a niece Donna McCamy of Hixton, TN. She has a number of step-grandchildren and a great-grandchild that love her and will miss her very much.
