Mary Ellen Richardson, 77, of Wall St., Amsterdam, died Friday May 7, 2010 at the SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital in Syracuse, NY following injuries sustained in a recent fire. Born in Sprakers, NY on June 15, 1932 a daughter of Charles and Bridget O'Connor Surnear. She was a lifelong area resident and attended school in Sprakers, NY. Mary worked at the former Bay Shore Industries, Esquire Novelty, Colette Manufacturing and as a Nurse's Aide at the Mt. Loretto Nursing Home in Amsterdam. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. Mary first married Arthur Guyette who passed away on November 24, 1971. She later married Grover Richardson Sr. who passed away on March 3, 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Richardson of Amsterdam. Two sons, David Guyette of Amsterdam and Arthur Guyette and his wife Nancy of the Town of Glen, NY. Four grandchildren, Nicole Potwin, Joshua Guyette, Brandyn Guyette and Austen Guyette. Sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mary was predeceased by a daughter Tina Marie Guyette. Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 13, 2010 at 11:00A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Father Brian List presiding. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday prior to the funeral service from 9:00A.M. to 11:00A.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main St. Amsterdam, NY 12010.
