Mary "Polly" Philippa Scharff

August 29th, 1949 - May 21st, 2024

Mary Philippa Scharff “Polly”, born on August 29, 1949 in Dover, Delaware passed away early on May 21, 2024 after a brief illness. Polly was the youngest child of the late Charles Taylor Sanborn and Edna Philippa Bainbridge Sanborn, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, David J. Scharff and their daughter Cathlee P. Scharff. Polly is survived by her children Clinton Scharff and Susan Scharff (Shelton) and Tina Ard and her grandchildren 1LT James Scharff (USAR), Dr. Sydney Scharff (Veith), Hannah Scharff, Anthony Ard and Shyana Ard. She is also survived by her brother, David Sanborn, and sister, Catherine Shiel, as well as many nephews and cousins.

Polly was a longtime volunteer with Charlotte County 4-H, recognized statewide for her dedication to the youth in this program.

A family memorial is planned for Saturday June 22nd 1:00 PM at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
