Mary Lorraine (Marylou) Spanoudis (1935 - 2023) of St Petersburg, Florida, and Toledo, Ohio, passed away on May 18th from multiple medical conditions. She was preceded by her husband Pete, and her son, Gus, and by her brothers Jerry and John, and her sister Maryann. She is survived by her sisters Carol Bean and Linda Walker, and by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Born to parents Elizabeth and William Russell in Hazel Park, MI, she worked as a waitress and hostess at the Northwood Villa in Toledo for many years, and Managed Rosie’s Restaurant, also in Toledo. She married into a Greek family, and became an active member of the Greek Orthodox community in both Toledo and St. Pete, and was a member of the Daughters of Penelope. Marylou was noted for her kindness and humor, her perseverance, her willingness to help and care for others. She was a life-long participant in the Greek church and in the Daughters of Penelope in both Ohio and Florida. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, opportunities to travel, and most of all, spending time with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all. Visitation will be at Anderson-McQueen funeral home in St Pete on Wednesday, May 24th from 2PM until 4 PM. The Address is 2201 Dr Martin Luther King Jr St N, St. Petersburg, Florida 33704. Father Sampson Kasapakis will be performing a Trisagion service at approximately 3 PM. In Toledo, Ohio, visitation will be on Tuesday, May 30th from 10 am until noon, at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The address is 740 Superior Street, Toledo, Ohio 43604. Father Larry Legakis will perform the funeral service beginning at noon. There will be a Makaria (Medrcy Meal) following the service. Funeral services will be held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Toledo, OH, with burial in the Greek section of Toledo Memorial Park. The graveside service will follow at Toledo Memorial Park, section 37. Arrangements for services in Toledo will be managed by Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home in Oregon, Ohio. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Kathy Chongris and Therese Johnson for their help in watching over Marylou. We would also like to express our gratitude to the nursing and care staff at Addington Place at College Harbor, Arbor Oaks Assisted Living, St. Anthony’s Hospital, and Northside Hospital. Your skill, patience, kindness, and humanity were recognized and greatly appreciated. If you will be participating in the Makaria, please contact Steve Spanoudis at 954-605-7716.
