Mary E. Stevens

Mrs. Mary E. Stevens, age 77, of Gloversville, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 20, 1943 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late David G. Fikes, Sr. and Lula Crouse Fikes. She was a homemaker for many years until obtaining her CNA Certification. She then went on to do private duty nursing. She was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church Puritan Class, the Red Hats and the 55 Plus Senior Center. Mary loved spending time with, cooking for and taking care of her family. She also enjoyed shopping, bingo, auctions, church dinners and was a collector of many things, including anything Elvis. Mary is survived by her husband, Jeffrey W. Stevens; two children, Lisa Washburn (John) and Shawn Stevens (Juliette); eight grandchildren, Elise Rush (Tyler), Brittany Gordon, Brooke Washburn (Austen), Emily Washburn, Tryston Stevens, Nicholas Washburn, Anastasia Stevens and Brianna Stevens; five great-grandchildren, Aidan Himpsl, Jackson Rush, Maelie Santiago, Gwendolyn "Gigi" Rush and John Manchester; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Christine M. Birch; a brother, David "Buck" Fikes, Jr; and a sister, Margaret Snell. The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00AM to 1:00PM Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Face coverings will be required. A private funeral service will take place at the convenience of the family with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
