Preceded in death by her husband Howard and parents Clyde and Rose Wells. Survived by 2 sons, Brad and (Lisa) of Tacoma, Mike (Renae) of Denver, CO; 2 sisters, Jimmie (Larry) Rickards, Pat (Ken) Wood both of Denver, CO; Grammy Sally had a special bond with her two grandchildren, Sierra and Jagger. Sally’s strong spirit stayed with her throughout her long illness. She loved life and fought hard to be with her family and friends as long as she could. Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 1st at St. Andrew’s, 7410 S. 12th St., Tacoma. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center, 253-566-1008. Mary Sarah (Sally) was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on December 24th, 1937 to Clyde and Rose Wells. A Christmas baby, Sally was always most fond of this holiday and would go to great lengths make this the most special day of the year. The Wells family lived in Texas, Colorado and Washington. Sally attended college in Denver at the Colorado Women’s College. In 1956, she married Howard Dean Stokke. “Stoke” and “Sal” made their home in Enumclaw, Washington on the Backacres Farm and raised two sons, Bradley Dean & Michael Wells. As Howard worked as an engineer at Boeing, Sally worked the family Arabian horse business. The Stokke’s were known world-wide for their horses, and this was a point of great accomplishment and pride for Sally. She was also an accomplished horsewoman, winning many awards and being crowned Rodeo Queen at the Spokane Rodeo, which she shared with guest celebrity Gene Autrey. Her country store on the farm, Stump Hollow was well known for arts and crafts in the area. Later in life, Sally enjoyed all sorts of arts & crafts, and was extremely talented. Her handmade jewelry and beadwork was well-known and her business, S & S Designs was great fun for her. She enjoyed entertaining at home, and had a flair for elegance. Her adored Schipperke, Cobi was her devoted companion. Sally left us too young at the age of 68. Preceded in death by husband Howard and parents Clyde and Rose, she is survived by sons Brad and Lisa (Tacoma) and Mike and Renae (Denver), sisters Jimmie (Larry) Rickards (Denver) and Pat (Ken) Wood (Denver). Grammy Sally had a special bond with her two grandchildren, Sierra and Jagger, who will remember their special grandma as someone who loved life and knew how to have fun. Sally’s strong spirit and fun-loving attitude kept her young at heart and stayed with her through her long illness. She loved life and fought hard to be with her family and friends as long as she could. She will be truly missed by all who have known her. Services will be held on Saturday, April 1st at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Episcopalian Church in Tacoma, with a reception following at her home, where she enjoyed hosting parties.
