Mary Carol Bergen-Travis born February 12, 1948, returned to her savior July 3, 2015. survived by her loving mother, Sybil; daughter, Amy; son, Scott; sister, Barbara; brother, Douglas Alewelt (Linda) and her forever grateful husband James Travis. Proceeded in death by her father Joseph Alewelt. Born with a congenital heart condition the family moved to Tucson in 1959 where at the tender age of 12, Mary Carol became one of the first open heart surgery patient at St. Mary's Hospital. Defying all the odds, she lived a full and productive life until pancreatic cancer stole her from us. A gentle and loving spirit, Mary Carol was the ultimate caregiver, always putting the needs of others before her own. She is now at peace with our Lord. A Funeral Mass will celebrate her life at Our Mothers of Sorrows Catholic church, Monday, August 10, 2015 at 9:45 a.m. with Monsignor Thomas Cahalane officiating. The family would like to thank the staff at Arizona Oncology's Wilmot facility and Casa de la Luz Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made her name to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel.
