Miss Mary Ann Vecchio, 89, Hamilton, OH passed away Saturday morning, November 5th at Hospice of Hamilton. Born in Amsterdam, NY on November 10, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Agnella Romano Vecchio. A graduate of Amsterdam High School, she worked as a glove maker for a number of years sewing ladies' leather dress gloves. Later, living in Albany and having studied bookkeeping and lip reading, Miss Vecchio worked for the State of New York in the Department of Audit and Finance for more than 25 years. She retired and moved back to Amsterdam. Six years ago, she moved to Hamilton, OH to be near two nieces. She was a communicant of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, Hamilton. One sister, Angelina Ciccarino James, Dublin, GA, survives. She is also survived by four nieces and a nephew; Suzanne Mullen Frank, Biltmore Lake, NC, Janet Martuscello, Dublin, GA and Joseph Ciccarino Donna, Endicott, NY and Sister Dolores A. Sollecito, C.S.J. Hamilton, OH and Mary Jo Barnett Arnold, Cincinnati, OH; 28 grand nieces and nephews and several godchildren. Miss Vecchio was predeceased by her oldest sister, Philomena Sollecito Vincent, Amsterdam, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 11:30AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 St. John Street with Rev. Lawrence Decker as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at 10:30 AM, Wednesday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Interment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Mary Vecchio's name may be made to The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, 385 Shaker-Watervliet Rd., Latham, NY 12110; to St. Peter in Chains Church, 382 Liberty Ave., Hamilton, OH 45013 or to Hospice of Hamilton, 1010 Eaton Ave., Hamilton, OH 45013.
