Mary Bishop Willis, 92, of Travelers Rest, SC, passed away November 11, 2021 peacefully at home. She was born on April 26, 1929 in Travelers Rest, SC to the late Grover and Ruby Tramell Bishop. Mary taught in the South Carolina School System for 27 years. She volunteered for 25 years with the Columbia Council for International Students at the University of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, James Truett Willis; her brothers, Grover Bishop, Clinton Bishop, Grady Bishop, Joseph Bishop; and her sisters, Mildred Jones and Camelle Batson. Surviving are her daughter, Teresa Layton; her grandchildren, Brenna Stogner, Alexandria Layton and Micah Layton; great-grandchildren, John Stogner IV, and Kate Stogner; her sister, Jeanette Dodson; four nephews; and two nieces. There will be a graveside service at 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the Gazebo in Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Memorials may be made to Columbia Council for International Students, columbiacfi.org.
