Marylee Brawdy

July 31st, 1923 - February 5th, 2015

A loving mother who will be forever in our hearts. Our beloved mother passed away peacefully on February 5th, 2015 in Tigard, Oregon. Marylee was born in Troy, Montana on July 31, 1923 to Roy and Stella (Collins) Clark. She grew up in Wyoming before moving to Washington and then to Oregon, where, in 1948, she lost everything in the Vanport Flood. She then moved to St. Johns Woods where she met and married Jimmie Brawdy in 1950. They settled in Newberg to raise a family of 6 children. In 1973, Marylee and Jim relocated to the family home in Sherwood. After spending many years working in the food packing industry in the local area, Marylee took a job with A-dec where she worked for many years and was known and appreciated for the wonderful pies she baked and took to her work associates. Marylee was a devout Christian and was active in the Newberg Seventh Day Adventist Church, serving several years as church secretary. She had a volunteer spirit and spent many years as a Girl Scout leader and, later, became a volunteer for the Newberg Meals on Wheels Program, working at the meal site and delivering meals to homebound seniors until deteriorating vision forced her to stop driving at the age of 87. She enjoyed spending time with her children, camping, games, crocheting, reading, baking, and walking until her declining vision and Parkinson's made it too difficult. Marylee is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years and son, Ronald. She is survived by 5 children: Karen Thomas of Portland, Vivian Ashworth of Battle Ground, WA, Gregg Brawdy of Sherwood, Bonnie Rose of Newberg, Becky Cardwell of Hillsboro, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Marylee’s strong faith carried her through many challenges in life and she will be missed for her unconditional love of her family, her sense of humor, and her service to others. She was a kind and gentle person who will be missed by those who loved her. God, please welcome her sweet soul into your arms. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 22nd at 2:00 PM at Newberg Seventh Day Adventist Church, 530 East Edgewood Drive, Newberg, OR 97132. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marylee’s memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, online at https://www.michaeljfox.org/get-involved/donation2.php or by mail at Donation Processing, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5041
