Maryrose DeSorbo

Mrs. Maryrose DeSorbo, 101 years old, of Amsterdam, passed away Friday morning December 1, 2017 at the Hillcrest Spring Adult Home following a brief illness. Born on October 15, 1916 in Amsterdam, NY, a daughter of the late Nicolo and Rachael Lauria Emanuele. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended Amsterdam schools. She was employed as a Supervisor for many years at the former Montco Manufacturing in Amsterdam. Maryrose was a communicant of the former St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She was an avid bowler and bowled in many leagues over the years in Amsterdam. She was also a member of the Columbian Social Club Auxiliary, the St. Michael's Seniors and the Lionetts. She married Alfred L. DeSorbo on September 9, 1935. They were married 65 years before he passed away on October 9, 2000. She is survived by her son, Alfred DeSorbo of Orlando, FL, two daughters, Patricia Robinson of Grovetown, GA and Lorraine (Ronald) Stella of Ballston Lake, NY, nine cherished grandchildren: Gary, Robert, James and Todd DeSorbo, Kevin and Michael Robinson, Karen Felder, Richard Stella and Amanda Schneider and 8 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph Emanuele Sr., Margaret Gambardella, Benedetta Pidgeon, Carmela Corvene and most recently Rosalie Conti and son-in-law, Isadore Robinson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 11:15 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John St., Amsterdam, NY 12010. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
