Mathew Spencer Rice

Mathew ‘Mat’ Rice, 47 of Ault, Colorado, was reunited with his parents & little brother, on December 5, 2021, from his home in Ault. Mat was born in Greeley, Colorado to Jeffrey & Sharon (Dill) Lowry on October 8, 1974. On September 13, 1997, in Lyons, Colorado, Mat married the love of his life, Rosalee (Luna) Rice. Mat was an avid outdoors man, who enjoyed the nature and beauty of Colorado and spent many days hunting, fishing, and exploring the state. He enjoyed concerts at Red Rocks, and can be remembered just hanging out, jamming to Reggae, enjoying what life brought him. He was also an avid traveler, enjoying the Caribbean as well as Alaska. And as we send him off, we'll send him off with a quote from his favorite author; "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.” - Hunter S. Thompson Mat is survived by the love of his life Rosalee Rice; sons, Nick (Morgan) Luna and Jacob (Janelle) Rice; grandchildren, Mason & Kynzlee; sisters, Lacy Lowry, Kristina (Matt) Rice-Etim, Kali (Antonio) Rice-Espinosa; and a large loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; Jeffrey Rice, Sharon (Dill) Lowry, brother, Jason Rice; uncle, Kenny Rice; and grandparents. A Celebration of Life will be at 3pm on Friday, January 21st, at Northern Colorado Crematory, Community Room, at 700 8th Street, Greeley, CO 80631.
