Matthew "Matt" Charles Garrigan
September 26th, 2000 - June 16th, 2023
Matthew was called to Heaven after a tragic farming accident, near his childhood home, on the afternoon of Friday, June 16, 2023. Matthew was born on September 26, 2000 in Pocatello, Idaho. The next day he met his chosen family and became a Garrigan. He was joyfully welcomed into the family by his parents, Bret and Beth, and his two older siblings, William “Billy” Mills and Sarah Elizabeth. The family was complete. Matthew grew up in Eagle, Idaho. He attended North Star Charter School, Seven Oaks Elementary, Eagle Middle School, Pathways Middle School, and Eagle Academy, where he graduated in 2019. He kept in contact with many former teachers and loved to update them on his future plans. After graduation, Matthew had various automotive related jobs around the Treasure Valley and in Stanley, Idaho. He had just returned to farming, which was what he wanted to do since he was a toddler. He loved farming as it allowed him to work outside and the opportunity to drive tractors every day. Being a farmer gave Matthew peace and purpose. Along with farming, Matthew also loved country music, going on road trip adventures, spending time with friends, working on and modifying his 1999 Dodge Ram, and helping others. He was the first to volunteer to help someone in need, no matter the time, distance, or cost. He had a huge smile and an even bigger heart. Matthew’s outgoing personality allowed him to never meet a stranger and to make everyone feel welcomed and cared about. Matthew is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles “Red” and Shirley Garrigan, Laddy Cusick, and Kenneth Anderson; and aunt, Becky Serens. He is survived by his parents, Bret and Beth Garrigan; siblings, Billy and Sarah; the family dog, Sky who is “the best dog in the whole world”; grandmother, Ramona Cusick; sister-in-law, Jayme; niece, Liberty; nephew, Justice; Godparents, Jon and Maureen Garrigan; and many loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. To honor Matthew’s life, please continue to do as Matthew would… share a kind smile, help others in need without expecting anything in return, and when you see a friend, honk and wave. Soar with the angels sweet son, and let your smile give us warmth, light, and peace. We love you. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 6pm at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Meridian, Idaho. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 at 1:30pm at Holy Apostles. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com.

Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
