Matthew “Marty” Martin Linares passed away on the 2nd of August, 2021 at the age of 60. He was born on March 8th, 1961 to Judith Lynn Browe and Ronald Theodore Linares. Marty was a lifelong resident of the Monterey Bay and resided in San Juan Bautista at the time of his passing. He attended Salinas High and worked as a Journeyman pipefitter with Local Plumbers and Steamfitters Union 62. Marty was an avid hunter. He worked as an Elk Guide in Colorado, where he lived for a time. He also enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, and was a local surfer out of Moss Landing. Marty surfed the West Coast from Washington to Mexico. He was also a member of “Friend of Bills”. Marty is survived by his mother, Judith Lynn Jones; his daughters, Justin Corin Smith (Justin Allan Smith- Son in Law) and Lindsey Ann Linares; his grandchildren, Astrid Elaine Howell and Jase Martin Smith; his niece, Amber “Witzke” Malmberg; and his ex-wife of 22 years, Regina Monique (Linares) Picoli-Hudak. Marty was preceded in Death by his step-father, Michael T. Jones on January 28th 2020; and his uncle, Elwood Eugene Browe, 1926-2015. Marty wanted his ashes spread around his favorite local surf spots. We would like to invite friends and family to remember our father at Moss Landing Beach once a date has been determined.

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
