"Groton - Matthew J. MacDougall, 58, passed away on August 22, 2016. He was born May 15, 1958 in St. Louis, MO, son of the late Joseph MacDougall and Marilyn Astin. He grew up in Palmer and resided in Shirley for many years. Matthew worked as a physical education teacher for Concord Public Schools for over 30 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading and cooking. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Potts) MacDougall, two daughters, Lorna MacDougall and her partner, Eric Marques of Nashua, NH, and Emma MacDougall and her partner, Andy Lagana of Stafford Springs CT. He also leaves five siblings, Mark MacDougall (Susan), Kathryn Hoy (Tom) , Joan MacDougall all of Palmer, Janet Phelps (Joel) of NH and Lyn MacBruce (Ron) of Randolph, VT, his mother in law, Dolores Potts of Palmer and sister in law Nancy Grove and brother in law, James Potts, along with many nieces and nephews. Matthew was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Michael MacDougall and his godson, Benjamin MacDougall. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 27 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the Beers and Story Palmer Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 480 Pleasant Street Watertown, MA 02472. "
