Matthew David Wolin passed away tragically on January 15, 2020 at the age of 35. He was born on December 14, 1984 in Jackson, CA to Deborah Myatt-Jackson and Damian Wolin. He graduated from Amador County High School in 2003. He later met and married Cher McSwane on February 12, 2011 in South Lake Tahoe. They have an 8-year old son, Joshua, who was the joy of Matthew’s life. Matthew had a great love of the outdoors; and California was the perfect place to fuel his passions for four-wheeling, snowboarding, fishing, hiking and camping; and spending time on his father’s ranch. He enjoyed working with his hands building and repairing things. However, just like his father, Matthew had a natural gift for math. In 1990 – 1997 Matthew lived with his family in Montana where he “never got used to the frigid winters.” Fortunately, they ended up moving back to California. Matthew loved being with family and traveling with his dad Damian and stepmother Kelly to such places as Hawaii, Mexico, and Nevada, (Hoover Dam). He visited his Uncle Jon Myatt who was living in Florida at the time. He recently visited his oldest sister Christi, her husband Stefan Rand and their three boys Tyler, Mason, and Nolan in Naperville, a suburb outside of Chicago where he had a most fun-filled time with Christi, seeing the city and visiting famous museums. Matthew had a keen wit and great but dry sense of humor. Whenever he and his mother were together, Matthew rarely missed an opportunity to make his mom laugh. It is believed that Matthew was a Chocoholic from birth, so much so that he learned how to bake chocolate chip cookies. But many times, he couldn’t resist eating the batter and would have to start all over again. He even stored raw batter in the refrigerator to snack on later. See’s chocolate butterscotch was his favorite. Matthew was a hard and diligent worker who worked for the past three years at Snowline Engineering located in Cameron Park. His co-workers and supervisors spoke very highly of him. Matthew David Wolin is survived by his mother Deborah Myatt-Jackson (Wade) of Plymouth, CA, his father Damian Wolin (Kelly) of Jackson, CA; his sisters Christi Rand of Naperville, IL., Sara Rojelio of Placerville, CA., Anya Wolin of Jackson, CA., and Jamie Harbeck of Pine Grove, CA., brothers Justin and Joseph Thomas of Jackson, CA., and Kelly Clark of Pi Pi Valley, CA. There will be a public viewing Friday, January 24, from 5pm to 7pm at the Daneri Mortuary. The celebration of his life will be at 3pm Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Daneri Mortuary, 415 Broadway, Jackson, CA 95642.
