Maureen T. L'Abbee
February 5th, 1943 - June 4th, 2021
With heavy hearts the family of Maureen T. (O’Connor) L’Abbee announces her passing on June 4, 2021 at Holyoke Hospital. She was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on February 5, 1943 to the late Everett J. and Alice (Habrowska) O’Connor. Maureen lived in Holyoke and West Springfield and attended Catholic school in her early years. Her family later moved to Granby where she attended Granby Schools. She attended South Hadley High School and graduated in 1961. Granby High School had not been built yet. She attended Becker Junior College and worked for her Father at Everett J. O’Connor Insurance Agency in Holyoke. She also worked for The Osborne Clinic in Agawam and finished her working career at Tapestry Health of Northampton where she retired in 2014. Maureen married the love of her life, Douglas G. L’Abbee Jr., in 1962. They would have celebrated their 59th anniversary this year. She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Granby where she and her husband were married. She loved the outdoors and especially camping with her family in Vermont. She and her husband built a second home in Newfane where they loved to spend all of their free time for many years. Her biggest hobby was her family. She cherished every moment with each and every one of them. She attended countless sports games, music concerts, plays and any reason to celebrate with her loved ones. Maureen is survived by her husband, Douglas G. L’Abbee, Jr.; her daughter, Jacqueline Girard and her husband Ronald Girard; her son, Douglas G. L’Abbee III and his wife Vicki L’Abbee; five grandchildren, Michelle Williams and husband Tyler of Ledyard, CT., Matthew Girard and wife Ashlee of Granby, MA., Douglas G. L’Abbee IV of Granby, MA., Mitchell L’Abbee of Granby, MA., and Robert L’Abbee of Granby, MA.; two great grandchildren, Ella Williams and Landon Williams of Ledyard, CT.; her sister, Sharon Colburn and her husband Patrick of Groton Long Point, CT.; and her two brothers, David O’Connor and wife Betty of Webster, MA. and Everett J. O’Connor Jr, and wife Lorna of Stonington, CT. Calling Hours will be held Saturday, June 19th from 9:30-11:30a.m. at the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home with a service to follow at 11:30 a.m. For those wishing to attend the service virtually, you may do so by visiting https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/3451885081 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
