Maurice John Bossuyt 95, passed away Sunday, October 25th, 2015, at Mountain View Assisted Living Facility. Maurice was born in Moline, IL on October 10, 1920 to Alberic & Rachel Bossuyt. He is survived by his loving wife Kathryn, son Joseph of Tucson, daughter Colette & husband David Kramer of Pueblo West, CO, his sisters, Alice Corwin of Moline, IL, Rose & husband Jerry Mount of Athens, GA, and sister-in-law, Jeanne Knobloch of East Moline, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents & brother Joe. Maurice graduated from Moline High School in 1938 attended Augustana College, Rock Island, IL, completed his studies at Iowa State University, earning a BS in Agronomy in 1950. Maurice was a World War II veteran, having served 5 years in the US Navy aboard the battleship USS Arkansas, & the aircraft carrier USS Santee. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Maurice and his wife Kathryn married in Nov 1950. They came to Arizona in 1951, where he took a job with the University of Arizona Extension Service, and was assigned to the office in Casa Grande. Later, he was employed by the US Dept of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service, and transferred to the Tucson Regional Office, from which he retired in 1987. He was a past president and Honorary Member of the Casa Grande and the Tucson Desert Kiwanis clubs. Maurice was a lifelong golf enthusiast, both as a teenage caddy & adult player and won many awards over the years. In retirement, he enjoyed his travels with Kathryn throughout the States & Canada, Europe, Russia, South America and Australia. He also became a passionate follower of the stock market on his computer, & of early morning exercise at a local fitness center. The family extends appreciation to the staff at Mountain View for their care of Maurice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kiwanis International Foundation, 3636 Woodview Trace, Indianapolis, IN 46268. Visitation for Maurice will be Sunday, November 1st, 6-8 pm at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel located at 8090 N. Northern Ave. A memorial Mass will be Monday, Nov. 2, 11:30 am at St. Odilia Church, 7570 N. Paseo del Norte, followed by a military burial at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Road.
