Max William Haug
September 28th, 1927 - January 6th, 2018
Max W. Haug, age 90, passed away on Saturday, Jan 6, 2018 at home with his family. He was born in Limon, Colorado on September 28, 1927 to John and Josie Haug on the family farm and had five sibling†™s Bernard, Edith, Bud, Sug and Jay. Max moved to Arvada, Colorado in 1941 at the age of 14 with his family. He graduated in 1945 from Arvada High School. After high school, he joined the Navy where he served in World War II and the Korean War. His position was stocking and operating the Ship†™s store where he gained the nickname †œStores†� by his shipmates. He returned home from service and went back to school attending the University of Denver receiving a Bachelor†™s Degree in Business in 1950. After graduation he got a job working in the restaurant business at Ralph†™s Cafe in Olde Town Arvada where he met the love of his life Claire. They were married August 3, 1953 and started their journey of sharing the next 64 years together. They had three children Gail, David and Alana. Max started his own business, Max Haug Reality in Olde Town Arvada. There he sold Real Estate, Insurance and did Taxes for people all over the state of Colorado. He enjoyed his work because he got to meet people and form life long friendships. While raising his family and running his business Max also found time to volunteer and become an invested member of the community of Arvada. He became a member of the following Clubs: Arvada Kiwanis, Elks, Arvada Olde Town Association and Arvada Historical Society. He helped create the Arvada Jefferson Kiwanis Club. He also helped found ACRA (Arvada Community Resource Association). In 1982 he was named Arvada Man of the year for the work he did for the community. As a person, Max always had friends or made friends everywhere he went. He was a great listener and good story teller. He loved telling his stories of his youth on the farm, his years in high school, his Navy days and the history of Arvada. Max told two of his grandsons that he had lived a good life. He had a beautiful wife, had three grown children and six grandchildren that he loved. He took pleasure in watching his grandkids grow up and loved attending activities his grandkids were involved in. A favorite pastime of his was watching the Bronco†™s play. He always had to watch them. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 10:00am at Aspen Mortuaries. 6370 Union St Arvada, CO 80004. Interment will follow at Arvada Cemetery, 5581 Independence St. Reception will follow the Interment and the location will be announced at the service.
