Max E. McCoy
July 21st, 1923 - February 16th, 2014
Max E. McCoy passed away February 16, 2014 and will be greatly missed by all those who were lucky enough to know him. Max was the son of Samuel and H. Edith McCoy, born July 21, 1923, and the husband of Edith E. McCoy who preceded him in death. Max is survived by a son, Michael McCoy and wife Sharon, of Yuba City, California; a daughter, Patricia Selby and husband Jerry of Kirksville, Missouri. He is also survived by grandchildren: Benjamin McCoy, Cory Selby, & Kelly McCoy. Max graduated from Live Oak Union High School. During W.W.II Max served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army, 165th Ordnance Company in India. Following the service Max returned to the Yuba Sutter area, and in 1953 married Edith Freeman. In 1985, Max retired from C. Meek Lumber company and he and Edith traveled throughout the Midwest and Western United States in their motor home, stopping to visit friends and relatives along the way. Max and Edith visited their children often and were lovingly involved parents and grandparents. In addition to traveling, Max was always in demand by friends and neighbors who were in need of his expertise with their building or remodeling projects. He enjoyed gardening, playing pinochle, and carpentry, and entered retirement with the same robust enthusiasm he always displayed in his professional life. It is simply impossible to have lived a fuller, richer, more rewarding and satisfying life than Max E. McCoy did and we will miss him. The loss of Max's spark and kind word will dim the world. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2014 at Crossroads Church, 445 B St., Yuba City. A private burial will be held at a later date at Sierra View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association
