Maxine Bernice Devine Brietzke, 83 Maxine Bernice (Devine) Brietzke, age 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, March 17, 2013. Maxine was born on April 5, 1929 in La Cygne, Kansas to Frieda Erna Bender and William Emery Devine. She lived with her parents in El Campo, TX. When she was only 6 years old, her mother died. She and her younger sister, Luverne were then raised by her father and her Aunt Hilda, who later married. She then resided in San Antonio. She went to high school at Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio and graduated in 1947. She went on to attend Draughon’s Business College. She worked at Connecticut Mutual Insurance Company as a secretary, Brooke Army Medical Center as a secretary for 5 different doctors and worked for the Corp of Engineers in Alabama. She moved to Florida with her husband, Leroy, in 1962. Once moving to Florida, she started a family and stayed home to take care of them. Each night she always had a home cooked meal on the table for them to enjoy. She actively participated in her children’s lives by being a homeroom mother to both daughters. She took them to all their music lessons and contests and went to all the Merritt Island High School football games. She enjoyed going on trips during the summer each year in their travel trailer and especially enjoyed going back to Texas to see her family. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and watching the Orlando Magic basketball games on TV. She is survived by her husband, Leroy Brietzke of Merritt Island, FL, daughters Karen Meader and husband David, Brenda Munroe and husband Alex, grandchildren Julia and Jacob Meader, all of Cocoa, FL, sister, Luverne Keller, sister-in-law, Marilyn Wright and husband Jim, her nieces and nephew, all of San Antonio, TX and her beloved pets KeeKee, Mupsy and Sweetie. Maxine was courageous, determined and strong to the end. She always put others’ happiness before her own. She was kind, loving and thoughtful, and will be greatly missed, never forgotten and always loved. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Viera Hospital and Wuesthoff Hospice House for their support in her final days. Visitation will be held at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Viera, FL on March 19, 2013 at 5:00 – 6:00 pm. Memorial service will be held at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home on March 19, 2013 at 6:00 pm with Pastor Ron Meyr of Faith Viera Lutheran Church officiating.
