On Friday, July 5, 2024, while under the care of Petersburg Health and Rehab in Petersburg, Virginia, Maxine answered God's call, transitioning from earthly labor to eternal rest. She is now reunited with her loving parents, husband, sister Lisa Mae Banks, and her uncle Richard Hicks and aunt Mary Young.

Maxine's memory will be forever cherished by her three sons, Dexter Banks, Michael Banks, and Markel Green, all of Emporia, Virginia; her sister Melissa Banks of Emporia, Virginia; her brother Rufus Banks, Jr. (Ethel) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; her sister-in-law Melinda Green of Emporia, Virginia; her brothers-in-law, Donald Green and Arthur Green, Jr., both of Emporia, Virginia; her two grandchildren. Jakayla Hicks and Jamier Walker, both of Richmond, Virginia; her aunt Hattie Vaughan (Larry) of Emporia, Virginia; her great-aunts, Pearline Rook, Argie Banks, Ollie Hicks, and Dorothy Hicks, all of Emporia, Virginia; her great-uncles, Howard Hicks, Hubert Hicks, Robert Hicks, and John Hicks, all of Emporia, Virginia, and Waverly Hicks (Emma) of Mesa, Arizona. She will also be fondly remembered by her special friend Fred of Emporia, Virginia, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
