Mrs. Maxine Renyak, 87, of Albea Dr., Hagaman, passed away Monday evening at her home. Born on June 26, 1918 in Detroit, MI she was the daughter of William and Ruth Smauder Marsh. She was educated in Schenectady, and following her marriage to Joseph F. Renyak on October 3, 1936, she moved to Perth. He died January 19, 1997. She remained in Perth until 15 years ago, when she moved to Hagaman. She was a member of St. Luke?s Evangelical Lutheran church. Mrs. Renyak was a home maker and avid gardener. She enjoyed art, especially oil painting, and loved to travel. She was also very active in the community, serving on numerous volunteer boards in the Amsterdam area, including the Board of Lady Managers at the Home for Elderly Women, and serving as past president of the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Century Club and the Garden club for many years. She is survived by two children, Robert Wayne Renyak of Ruskin, Florida, and Nadine R. DeLaney of Marcellus, New York. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Joseph and David Renyak and Tracy and Todd Stark, and six great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will take place at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., on Monday August 8 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. John A. Califano officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in her honor can be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny Corners Road, Amsterdam, or to the American Cancer Society, Box 102454, Atlanta, GA, 30368-2454.
