Mayola Wallis Kinney
May 10th, 1927 - April 1st, 2020
Mayola Wallis Kinney was born on May 10, 1927 in Boloxi, Mississippi. Her parents were Otto Wallis and Effie Marie Giriourd Wallis. Mayola graduated from Biloxi High School May 1945. As a teenager she enjoyed roller skating and basketball. After graduation, Mayola acquired a job at Kessler Air Force Base as a secretary where she met her future husband Glen Kinney. Glen, an airmen was receiving schooling for his job in the air force. In 1951, Glen was transferred to Enid, Oklahoma where Mayola joined him and they were married April 24, 1951. Glen was transferred to Okinawa, Japan for 18 months. Mayola went to live with Glen's parents in North Dakota. On returning from Okinawa Glen was transferred to Waco, Texas. In Waco their three children were born. In 1960, Mayola, Glen and their three children moved to Tachikawa Air Force Base, Japan upon Glen's transfer. In Japan at the NCO club Mayola played bingo with other air force wives. The love of bingo would continue throughout her life. In 1963, Mayola and her family returned to the United States. The family was transferred to numerous assignments. At one of the air bases Mayola took up the sport of bowling which she really enjoyed. Mayola joined many leagues, traveled to many tournaments, she also coached young bowlers. Love of bowling would continue until back surgery made it no longer possible. In 1970, Glen retired from the air force. Glen acquired a job with a franchise for Kentucky Fried Chicken in Salina, Kansas. In 1976, Mayola, Glen and their youngest daughter moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado. Mayola lived in Ft. Collins for 42 years. She moved to Loveland, Colorado to an assisted living facility on the passing of Glen in March 2016. Mayola was 92 when she passed away on April 1, 2020 after a short illness. Mayola is survived by children Barbara, Jay wife Sandy, Laura and husband James. Five grandchildren Lee, James, April, Shaun and Erin. Six great grandchildren Signe, Gillian, Lexi, Soren, Lydia and Jaxson. Cremation was completed. No services to be held at this time.
