Mayra I. Arteaga-Guevara

Mayra Arteaga (ne Guevara Zavala) Passed away at the young age of 49 peacefully surrounded by the love of her mother, children, husband, siblings, nephews, and extended family in Boston on July 12, after a courageous 23-month battle against cancer. On February 5, 1972, Mayra was born to Ciro Guevara and Maria Zavala in El Salvador, where she started her career as a journalist. Before being diagnosed with cancer Mayra worked as Editor-in-chief of Hola News, a Spanish language newspaper based in Charlotte, NC. Mayra was known to family and friends for her charisma, contagious joy, and kindness. Through her profession, Mayra served with passion and love for the Hispanic community of the Carolinas, always lending a helping hand to whoever needed it. She was an extraordinary human being, a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. Mayra was a beautiful soul who enlightened our hearts every day, her warmth will forever remain in our hearts (the fortunate ones that had the chance to have her in our lives). Mayra is survived by her husband, John Rabon, her children (Stefana, Juan Jos, and Matthew), her parents, brothers, sisters, and a big and loving Salvadoran extended family. Family and friends are invited to attend the celebration of her life: Visitation will be held Friday, July 23, 2021 from 5pm-8pm at Tribute & Tallent Funerals & Cremations, 1937 N. Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC 28205. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 6212 Tuckaseegee Rd, Charlotte, NC 28214. The remaining funds will be placed into a college fund for Mayra's underage son. Mayra Arteaga (de soltera Guevara Zavala) Falleci a la temprana edad de 49 aos rodeada pacficamente del amor de su madre, hijos, esposo, hermanos, sobrinos y dems familia en Boston el 12 de julio, despus de una valiente batalla de 23 meses contra el cncer. Mayra naci el 5 de febrero de 1972 de Ciro Guevara y Maria Zavala en El Salvador, donde inici su carrera como periodista. Antes de que le diagnosticaran cncer, Mayra trabaj como editora en jefe de Hola News, un peridico en espaol con sede en Charlotte, Carolina del Norte. Mayra era conocida por familiares y amigos por su carisma, alegra contagiosa y amabilidad. A travs de su profesin, Mayra sirvi con pasin y amor a la comunidad hispana de las Carolinas, siempre ayudando a quienes la necesitaban. Era un ser humano extraordinario, una madre, esposa, hija, hermana y amiga maravillosa. Mayra fue un alma hermosa que iluminaba nuestros corazones todos los das, su calidez quedar para siempre en nuestros corazones (los afortunados que tuvimos la oportunidad de tenerla en nuestras vidas). A Mayra le sobreviven su esposo, John Rabon, sus hijos (Stefana, Juan Jos y Matthew), sus padres, hermanos, hermanas y una gran y cariosa familia salvadorea. Una misa de Cristiana Sepultura se llevar a cabo el sbado 24 de julio de 2021 a las 10:00 am en la Iglesia Catlica Nuestra Seora de Guadalupe, 6212 Tuckaseegee Rd, Charlotte, NC 28214.
