Megan Elizabeth Coleman
December 28th, 1979 - March 20th, 2021
Megan Elizabeth Coleman, 41, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021 after a short illness with cancer. She was born in West Columbia, SC on December 28, 1979 to Paula Phillips Coleman and David Marshall Coleman. She was welcomed by her brother, Justin Michael Coleman who was a lifelong close friend. Megan was a 1998 graduate of Pelion High School and played flute in the marching band. She was a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient, SC Legislative Page, and world traveler. She enjoyed cooking old family recipes and finding new ones. She loved the discovery and adventure of the outdoors, spending time with her family, playing games, as well as, the mystery and excitement of Genealogy. She loved to laugh, was kind hearted, and loved animals, reading, and old houses. She worked with Defender and as an EMT with Gold Cross. Megan will be greatly missed by her devoted wife, Stephanie LaFrance Coleman and beloved son, Jonathan Spencer Coleman. In addition to her parents and her brother, Megan is survived by her stepmother, Joyce Holmes Coleman, and her stepsister, Satori Levante Holmes. Also surviving are uncles, aunts, and cousins, Mr. & Mrs. James David Phillips, daughters Lisa Lynn Phillips and April Phillips Helms and son David Lee Phillips; Mr. & Mrs. Mitchell Pitts, daughter Anna Pitts Fox and son Robert Alan Pitts; Mr. & Mrs. Robert David Phillips; Mr. & Mrs. Michael Scott Phillips Sr.; and Mr. & Mrs. Thomas D. Eatman. She is predeceased by her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Nelson Lee Phillips, Mr. & Mrs. Neal Phillips, and Mrs. Patricia Ann Godwin Coleman Barfield and Mr. Wallace Coleman, and cousins Thomas D. (Lane) Eatman and Michael Scott Phillips, Jr. A celebration of Megan’s life will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Rd. in Lexington, SC on April 3, 2021 from 4 – 6 PM. Dress is casual, please do not wear black; also, due to Covid, masks are required. Interment will be in Level Grove Cemetery in Cornelia, Georgia at a later date.
