Melinda "Mindy" Diane Wolfer
January 31st, 1954 - February 1st, 2022
Melinda “Mindy” D. Wolfer, 68, passed away peacefully on February 1st, 2022 following a private battle of cancer. Mindy is survived by her husband of 50 years, Steve Wolfer, daughters Heidi (Dave) McCaig and Heather (Brandon) Ratliff and 5 grandchildren for whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her mother Carmen Knudtson, father Ralph Knudtson and sister Marsha Campbell. Mindy and Steve married at age 18 and by 22 were a happy little family of 4. Early on, Mindy worked as a cashier at PayLess where it would bring her joy to purchase a Fisher Price Toy each payday for her daughters. She also worked at Pierce College (then known as Fort Steilacoom) where she ran a large offset duplicating machine and helped staff and instructors with their printing needs. During the holidays she would help students in need with food for Thanksgiving or gifts at Christmas time. She was always very loving, caring, accepting and giving. She was always there to greet you with open arms. Mindy enjoyed reading books and traveling with her husband, along with her faithful canine companion, “Benny”. He was always by her side, there to comfort her during her often painful battle with cancer. She also enjoyed the local wildlife that found sanctuary in their yard, including birds, deer, rabbits, racoons and squirrels. She also enjoyed tending to her plants she collected over the years. To honor Mindy’s request, there will not be a memorial service. Instead she preferred a family celebration of life in the spring. She is in our thoughts and prayers. We will miss her always.
